Holiday Shopping Help

ID-100116562 Countdown to Christmas…10 Days to Go!

Have you made your lists? Have you checked them twice? Even if you have, you might still be stressed about your holiday gifts. Make sure you don’t forget anyone on your list and keep your gift giving organized with these simple sanity-saving tips:

  1. Plan Your Shopping Attack. Don’t let your last minute holiday shopping get out of hand. The stores are busy filled with lots of distractions. Don’t leave for the mall without a list of exactly what you’re looking for and your budget. Look-up a map of the mall or shopping center before your excursion and plot out what stores you will hit so you don’t waste time wandering and looking for your favorite shopping spot.
  2. Shop in Your PJs. I’m not saying you wear your flannels to the store. But you can shop in your PJs if you shop online. This way you can research and compare prices right from the comfort of your computer chair. Just remember to check the shipping dates to ensure that your gifts arrive in time.
  3. Keep Your Gifts Organized. Easily keep track of what you got for everyone on your list and who you might be missing a gift for. Label a shopping bag or small box for each person on your list and place gifts in the bag/box as you purchase them. This also makes wrapping a breeze. Just wrap and put back in the labeled bag until you have time to put bows and gift tags on them.

Stay tuned for more holiday tips as I countdown to Christmas!

SPILLIN’ ‘N CHILLIN’ AT BLOGHER12 NYC

Happy almost  first friday in August Happy Hour 🙂 Can’t believe it’s already August though i always feel once the Fourth of July passes the summer flies by…and so does the time before my son leaves for his freshman year! Yikes only TWO WEEKS…a blog or two or three about that is coming to a laptop near you in the days ahead!

But this blog’s about the amazing fun I had hosting a private soiree  for Carpet One Floor and Home where pomegranite martinis, pedicures (with or without your stilletos on!),

Life is good!! Cheers!

a  SPILL ‘N CHILL BAR showed how their Relax it’s LEES carpet is the perfect accidental housewife way to go since all you need to clean almost any stain is with good ole water whether it’s grass, mud, pee pee or red wine.   And though you know i like to use and have had great success with some everyday household items like white vinegar, Arm & Hammer baking soda, vodka (Of course and no not because if i drink some the stain doesn’ t look so bad LOL! it really works but use the cheap stuff 🙂 ), shaving cream and so on some stains just don’t come out…which is why i rearrange my furniture every few months to cover those stubborn ones up!  Kidding aside…i like my other gal pal bloggers were amazed.

I’ve got more pix and things to share from that in the next day or so ..having some tech probs so apologies, as you’ll see by these fuzzy pix:  One of a very appealing fellow I met there!  And the other of me trying out a new vacuum to replace my good ole broom and fly home on from Samsung 🙂 Come to think of it maybe it’s not my camera but the person whom took it who may have had a few too many ‘tinis at the Spill Bar 🙂  Spread the glove!  http://www.juliestips.com

Trying out a new ‘travel’ vac-broom 🙂

Goin bananas 🙂

GETTIN’ BUGGY ‘N BUZZED WITH PAT BATTLE ON TODAY NY!

Taped a segment yesterday with my fave NBC WEEKEND TODAY IN NEW YORK HOST Pat Battle

I love ‘spreading the glove’ with Pat even if it means I have to be bright eyed ‘n bushy-tailed before the roosters cockadoodle doo!  She’a such a wonderful human being and a real hoot to work with!  And, she just loved that I got her all grossed out talking about stuff that bugs us…including our hair  and this crazy summer heat wave which is why i’ve given up on coiffing my hair and am doo-ing the quick clip UP DOO.  No muss no fuss! Love that!!

Hope those of you in the tri-state NY, NJ, Connecticut area will tune in next Sunday, and see how with a ‘lil basil, vodka and red wine nuttin was buggin us or will you!  Spread the glove!

ALL I WANNA DO IS NJOY SHERYL CROW, SURI, VUE ‘N BREWS

As moms, wives, working women or just over-scheduled and over-worked peeps in general, we rarely have the luxury or feeling that someone is there taking care of us.  I guess that’s why folks at Apple now feature Suri–our very own personal assistant on their new Apple 4S.  And, god knows we could all use someone to remind us of our kid’s dental appointment: call, email or text our significant other when we’re running late or maybe if I can find time sched a hair coloring appointment before those greys over populate!

This is where and why technology is truly a good thing making me life easier, and not something that confuses the heck outta me since in addition to being known as The Accidental Housewife, I am also known as The Queen of Technological Darkness!  Nope Suri has made me feel special.  And, a few weeks back I shared another techy ‘good thing’: my new LG Hom-Bot which stays in its little charging station on call to vacuum my house without me lifting a finger.  Plus, it can bring me a martini or cup of coffee…Life is good!

And, now I found my latest ‘make my life easier and tastier’ techy must have…

Enjoying a cup of fresh VUE-brewed cappuccino with Michelle Stacy, Pres of Keurig!Mmmm Mmmm Yum!

See last eve I attended a launch party for the new Keurig VUE single cup coffee maker.  Now, i don’t know about you but my day just doesn’t quite start off right without that first cup of coffee which i generally have to reheat 2-3 times since i’m too busy focusing on getting my son up and fed for school.  Needless to say over-reheated coffee with the milk forming a thin waxy-like top isn’t exactly that yummy, ‘get my day going’ cup of java!  And, then if i’m running late which is just about every day, I  try to take a cup with me as I shuttle myself or my son in days gone by before he got his license (yeah chaufeur duties relieved!) and it be cold.  Yuk!

But last nite I met Suri and Bot’s ‘new take care of Julie’ mate Vue…Now, please note i have tried several single cup coffee makers and generally have been disappointed since the coffee tastes weak, cools off too fast when i add my 1/2 and 1/2 and though I’m no Sheryl Crow  when it comes to being green (whom i love by the way as an artist and performer)–she had suggested we portion  toilet paper which for those of us with kids might save the forest but not the amount of laundry we’d be doing and thus not water nor energy conservation…The point here is I try to do what I can and if it fits into my everyday lifestyle all the better and the VUE pods  are recyclable so it’s mindless mother earth friendly! Love that!

So my fellow overworked, overscheduled housewives, check it out,  coffee, tea, hot, cold Keurig’s new VUE has a brew for you so as Sheryl sings “all i wanna do’ is enjoy a yummy cup of brew along with Suri and Bot! Happy weekend all…Spread the glove…

POOP, PEE ‘N PET ‘TINIS!

Happy Friday all!  Hard to believe we were getting ready for the ball to drop a mere 6 days ago! Oh well time she flies….

I may have mentioned that I’m doing another segment with my two fave gals Kathie Lee ‘n Hoda on the TODAY SHOW Tuesday.  The segment’s called Pet Peeves and has to do with how the oohs and aahs of how cute that little kitty or puppy were when you lost your mind and brought one home for your kiddies during the holidays  has now gone to RRRR’s and what was I thinking as poop, pee,  hair and odors rule your roost.  Well, this accidental housewife is here to help you get rid of the ick, stink and save your sanity ‘n manicure. So as i prep for the show where I’m gonna use some new mani-friendly things that you probably have handy in your kitchen or bathroom, I wanted to share a couple of pix.  The first is my idea of a perfectly potty trained kitty who may be on their 9th life, holding their breath to find their litter box.  And, the second is why I am seriously considering coming back as a doggie in my next life–imagine being able to have a free tini 24/7 curbside!  Spread the glove!

See Spot. See spot woof down these 'tinis!

OMG! I've gotta stop drinking so much water!

GETTIN’ DOWN N’ DIRTY W/THE ITALIAN STALLION…Of Design

WHAT FUN I HAD TODAY!  That was after thinking i might be meeting my maker as we descended into the Windy City early this morn. Rather then continuing our landing our trusty captain revved up the engines and took us back into the wild blue yonder.  YIKES ! He claimed it was the control tower saying that winds had shifted but Kevin Miller, my trusty biz manager and I thinketh there might have been a fellow craft too close for comfort.  But alas, though my heart took a nose dive the plane eventually landed safely .  And off to the Sears Craftsman Experience Studio we went to meet the one and only, adorable and studdley Frank Fontana, host of  BlogRadio‘s 1,000,000 stream hit show Down ‘ Dirty as well as HGTV’s Design on a Dime.

Spreading the Glove with Frank

Before the interview I was given a tour by Bo, the uber fit studio manager (and my new personal trainer) whom showed me some of their latest and greatest tools: Now, I know usually it’s guys who get excited by power tools and widgets but I felt like a kid in a toy store and love any kinda tool that is easy to use and if it can multi-task all the better…which Bo shared and I tested:

Say Aahh!

Not exactly sure why I love doing DIY’s around the house though it allows me to connect with my inner-guy.  And, truth is I find it empowering and love seeing the look of disbelief in my guy’s face when I fix a clogged sink, create a Make Up Brush Holder outta a block of craft wood with my handy dandy coincidentally Craftsman drill to make holes for each; or when I’m looking for studs in the wall (though don’t mind looking at the other male version either LOL!) Yup, give me a drill and a dirty martini (after the job is done of course) and I’m one happy not always so accidental housewife!

Ok now back to the studio…

Bo’s tour now finito, it was time to put on my gloves and at last start ‘spreading some glove’ with Frank.  So in I strolled, with an extra pair of gloves in hand sure he’d put them on since he’s also known as the Straight Guy with a Queer Eye! And, the real fun began!  Alex, Frank’s bud across the table  joined in too who is a blast! We chatted about everything from my accidental origins to Frank’s wife’s struggle with being a new mom (they have a 4 month old), housewife and not loosing her sanity (we can all relate!), to our mutual buds Kathie Lee ‘n Hoda on NBC TODAY SHOW to talking ‘dirty’—afterall it is the  ‘Down ‘n Dirty Show’- to lots of other laughs, advice and …for the whole interview which was more like having a drink with friends sans drink at least this time, all you gotta do is  tune in –www.blogtalkradio.com/diy

All U Need is Glove, Frank and the Down 'n Dirty Guys

Big Shout out to Exec Producer Andy Herman for booking me in Down ‘N Dirty’s prime time show slot as well as making me feel like I was a regular… And to all you guys behind the scenes for making today’s segment terrific. Can’t wait to come on back though I may take the train here next time.  Ready anytime Frank to DIY and get my hands and gloves dirty!  xo
